Care of crossbow centre servings

With crossbow strings it is important that the centre serving is well looked after as with the majority of strings this will be the part that wears out the quickest.

with good string care it is possible to extend the life of centre servings and reduce the friction on the crossbow rail giving a more consistent shot.

several things that can be done for this are

1. after use ensure that a fresh coat of wax  is applied to the serving itself paraffin wax works well for this the same as in tealight candles then apply a softer wax over this layer to act as a lubricant(bohning seal-tite/tex-tite) works very well for this purpose.

2. Ensure that the crossbow rail  is free from debris and/or damage as this could possibly catch the string and  speed up the wearing process

3.Be aware that when a centre serving becomes damaged  it is repairable for £2 so do not continue to use the string as this will damage the string material underneath.

Hello, just come across your business on Amazon. Not knowing, I've just posted the question: "can you make crossbow strings and cables given the specs?" (or words to the effect of! on Amazon) However, I would welcome a conversation with you as I know the problems in obtaining a press for crossbows. I have a Last Chance Archery Green Xbow press and Xbow mini adapter on the way as that's all that could deal with my reverse draw Tenpoint Nitro XRT. I think this will be the only model in the UK. And I noted one question on your xbow blog which sought info on who can press compound/reverse draw bows. Obviously, I could not see your reply. Any way, I'm in need of a couple of pistol xbow strings at present (Redback 80Lb) could you help with that? Thanks.

Cheers for that quick guide. Never heard about paraffin wax for centre servings before so I'll get to firing some of that on now. Your site is looking good for a bare-bones site.
